Jonathan Heilbron

Composer-performer and independent scholar

Jonathan Heilbron is an Australian composer-performer active in the fields of contemporary, improvised, and experimental music. As a performer of contemporary music, Jonathan has performed and recorded with some of Europe’s most renowned ensembles for contemporary music, including Ensemble Modern Orchestra, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Apartment House, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Remix, and Ensemble Resonanz. He is a member of Ensemble KNM Berlin and Harmonic Space Orchestra, and is a founding member of Phonetic Orchestra. His compositional projects include eight-hour overnight sleep concerts and twenty-four-hour telematic performances with Phonetic Orchestra, ensemble pieces for modern and historical instruments, and solo works for double bass and chord organs. Jonathan holds a PhD from Monash University, Melbourne, where his research focused on the composer-performer Fernando Grillo. http://www.jonheilbronmusic.com/
