Johann Vacher is a French pianist and composer specialising in modern and contemporary music. He studied piano at the Haute École de Musique de Genève (HEMGE) with Cédric Pescia and Pascal Devoyon. He currently teaches various different subjects at HEMGE and coordinates activities related to contemporary music. Johann performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral pianist and is pursuing a PhD at the Orpheus Institute (Ghent) / LUCA School of Arts (Leuven), focusing on amplified piano music. His research combines performance and composition on innovative pianos that optimize sound diffusion, the expansion of amplified piano works through additional sections that shine new light on them, and experiments with acoustic feedback and spatialisation. Deeply interested in interdisciplinary practices, Johann has conceived and premiered multidisciplinary projects as a musician and comedian with Ensemble Caravelle. He is also co-founder and artistic co-director of Les Fieffés Musiciens, a French chamber music festival founded in 2015. Since 2022, he has collaborated with the Festival Pianos de Kinshasa, leading pedagogical activities. https://www.johannvacher.com/
